Tuscany offers a tremendous range of vacation accommodation at
highly competitive prices. In past years, visitors more or less had the choice
of a hotel or a pensione. Those days are long past. While many still
prefer a luxury hotel in Florence, with all the facilities those provide, an
increasing number of visitors to Tuscany are now staying out in the country
either in a village or on a working winery. Agriturismi are extremely
popular. These are entire farmhouses, apartments or rooms offered by active
farms, which, in Tuscany, are invariably producers of wine and/or olive oil. Agriturismi
frequently provide a swimming pool for their guests. In villages and small
towns, beautifully restored apartments as well as Bed and Breakfast rooms are
readily available. You can often find a whole self-catering apartment for less
than the price of a hotel room. "Villas" are frequently found listed
on Tuscan vacation accommodation websites. Most of these are not true villas
but rather simple farmhouses. Nevertheless, there are villas for rent if you
have a large group or are planning a wedding. There are other true villas that
offer room or apartments. Some of these are authentic Medicean villas offering
a luxury experience. Rural hotels also exist. There are fewer of them but many
are very beautiful and have equally beautiful locations with panoramic views
out over the Tuscan hills.
